Friends Of Medstead School (FOMS)
All parents, carers and teachers of children at Medstead (CofE) Primary School are automatically members of FOMS. An elected committee co-ordinates the meetings and events. Activities are open to all members.
The aim of FOMS is to provide social events and activities for the children, parents and teachers of Medstead School and to raise funds for specific projects in the school. FOMS meets these two aims by having ‘Fun while Fundraising’. It co-ordinates a range of social occasions throughout the school year (from ‘Freezepop Fridays’ right up to major events like the Christmas Fayre). All events raise funds for specific projects to improve the facilities of the school; FOMS has recently committed to funding the upgrade of all interactive whiteboards in the school’s teaching areas.
Every little helps but your involvement is what makes it all possible.
FOMS relies on the support of volunteers and the more people that get involved, the more we can achieve (which benefits everybody!). If you’re interested in helping to make a difference and to make sure you don’t miss out on what’s coming up, please contact us via our email medsteadfoms@gmail.com Details of FOMS’ upcoming events and activities can also be found on the school calendar and on the FOMS Facebook group
What FOMS means to our school?
From the children:
“The iPads are brilliant!”
“We love playing table tennis!”
From our Headteacher:
“ I am totally overwhelmed by the support and dedication of FOMS. Their activities not only provide us with exciting social events, but also raise funds which help to give the children such an enjoyable education, through new resources. FOMS has achieved so much, and I look forward to continuing this valuable partnership in the coming years.”
How is FOMS organised?
As a charity, we have an elected Committee of Friends, usually parents and teachers, appointed annually at our AGM and Class Representatives for each year in the school. We also have Class Representatives who undertake a very important role. There are usually two per class providing a link between the class, parents and the committee. Their support is vital for our events from selling tickets to organising rota’s of help to running stalls.
How we raise money?
The majority of our funds are raised through throughout the year events, such as:
Medstock (Medstead’s Summer Music Festival)
Christmas Fayre
Discos
Secret Santa
Cake sales
Raffles
Bag 2 School
Quiz nights
Nearly new uniform sales

Company matching giving
This simple concept allows companies to donate to a charity, such as ourselves, an amount of money relating to the amount that an employee(s) donates or fundraises for us. We have been helped enormously in the past by this type of donation. If you think that your employer has a matched giving scheme, we would appreciate you putting FOMS forward.
