Our RE Curriculum
At Medstead CE Primary School, Religious Education (RE) is a highly valued subject that reflects our Christian vision and values of Trust, Courage, Hope and Resilience. Through RE, pupils develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage thoughtfully with Christianity and a range of religious and non-religious worldviews. Christianity is the principal religion studied and forms the majority of RE learning, in line with Church of England guidance, whilst pupils also learn about other faiths and beliefs represented in our diverse society.
Our RE curriculum follows Living Difference IV, the agreed syllabus for Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight. Living Difference IV encourages pupils to explore concepts through enquiry, reflection and dialogue, helping them to make sense of the world around them and their place within it.
Alongside Living Difference IV, we use Understanding Christianity, which enables children to gain a deep and progressively developed understanding of the Christian faith through engagement with biblical texts, Christian beliefs and their impact on daily life.
