Friends Of Medstead School (FOMS)
We are a registered charity raising thousands of pounds each year through events that are fun, build relationships and provide social opportunities for the children and parents. The monies raised are for the benefit of all our children to help them achieve their potential.
All families are automatically members of FOMS when their child joins the school and everyone’s contribution is highly valued. We need continued support to succeed in our efforts and any time that you have is welcomed. We’d love to hear from you with any fundraising ideas, support you can give a class event, donation of items for events or if you want to become a class rep or member of the committee.
In consultation with school staff and children, decisions on how we spend the money are made at the Annual General Meeting, whilst monthly FOMS meetings plan and organise events. Please contact one of the committee or your class rep if you can offer any help or have any suggestions on events or purchases of equipment or resources that will enhance our children’s education experience and the school’s facilities.

How is FOMS organised?
As a charity, we have an elected Committee of Friends, usually parents and teachers, appointed annually at our AGM and Class Representatives for each year in the school. The current committee is:

Our Class Representatives undertake a very important role. There are usually two per class proving provide a link between the class, parents and the committee. Their support is vital for our events from selling tickets to organising rota’s of help to running stalls. Current reps are:

How we raise money?
The majority of our funds are raised through throughout the year events, such as:
Medstock (Medstead’s Summer Music Festival)
Bag 2 School
Nearly new uniform sales
Recent purchases have included:
Outside Canopy for Yr 1 playground
Blackout blinds throughout the school
Outdoor classroom, known as The Bandstand
Board Games for all classes
Playground refurbishments and markings for both sports and entertainment at break times
Crackers for the school Christmas dinner
Fruit and drinks at sporting events
Y6 leavers' gifts
As a charity, we are able to claim Gift Aid on some donations. Please contact the Treasurer for more details.
Company matching giving
This simple concept allows companies to donate to a charity, such as ourselves, an amount of money relating to the amount that an employee(s) donates or fundraises for us. We have been helped enormously in the past by this type of donation. If you think that your employer has a matched giving scheme, we would appreciate you putting FOMS forward.
