The writing process has many aspects to it, the final one of which is putting pencil to paper, and can often be a source of anxiety for many of our children with SEND. By the time a child has tried to think of their idea, verbally formulate their sentence, recall their sentence, use their phonic knowledge and thought about how to spell tricky words and remember a capital letter, full stop and finger spaces it's easy to see how they can feel overwhelmed. And then there's still handwriting to consider - all that for a simple sentence!
I will be posting activities and ideas here on how you can reduce the demand of the writing process to support your child to become a confident writer.
