Year 4 at Henley Fort
On Thursday 11th May, Year 4 set off on a very exciting adventure! We were headed to Henley Fort in Guildford where we would spend two days immersed in World War II learning. There was a buzz of excitement in the classroom prior to departure, soon to disappear when we saw the size of the hill we had to walk up upon arrival! We undertook activities such as Home Guard training and the ARP (Air Raid Precautions). As you can see from the photographs, the activities were very hands on and great fun. In the evening, we were treated to a delicious meal of sausage, mash potato and vegetables as well as a very yummy pudding. To the children’s excitement, there was an evening activity planned which involved making shortbread biscuits. Sleeping in Yurts was very exciting… I think we all managed to get some sleep! We awoke to glorious sunshine on the Friday ready for another day of action-packed activities. The time flew and sadly it was soon time to return home. We all had a brilliant time!
Year 4 Wedding themed service at Medstead Church
On Tuesday 28th March 2017, Chestnut Class went to a Wedding at St. Andrews Church, Medstead. As we walked to the Church on the beautiful sunny day, we could hear the bells ringing and the hum of parents awaiting our arrival. The service was led by Cannon Ed and saw two of our Y4 pupils 'get married' (pretend of course!) We all dressed up for the occasion, sang two hymns and learnt all about how a wedding ceremony may be conducted in a Church setting. All the children, and adults, had a wonderful time and this was a great experience for all!
