Welcome to Medstead School’s SEN page. The purpose of this page is to provide you with information about Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision within the school.
SEN in schools – an overview
Many children may experience some difficulty in their learning at some time during their education. Often support in class will mean that most children overcometheir difficulties quickly and easily. However, a few children will need extra help for some or all of their time in school.
These children may need extra help because of a range of needs such as:
Understanding and learning, particularly relating to literacy and numeracy,
Speech language and communication,
Behavioural, social and emotional difficulties,
Sensory or physical disabilities
Social communication difficulties.

Specialist Teacher Support for Literacy
Most of our SEN provision is delivered by trained learning support assistants.
We are also supported by a wide range of outside agencies who can provide us with specialist advice and provision if necessary.
Provision often includes the use of specialist resources and multisensory teaching strategies.
Many children who don’t have SEN also benefit from many strategies used to support children with SEN.
Click here to find out about some of the strategies that can help all children with their learning.
